Poetry: Body image

defined by body
by biology
better to be fat?
a non person
a testament to excess
pig
or foxy?
a sex object
meat
sex toy walking
whore
what about athletic?
boy body
unwomanly
dyke
what option is there for a woman
to be?
to be anything
not defined by biology
by body
what matter brains?
invisible
power
forbidden
bitch
no role for woman
it would be easy
to give in
to be normal
to find destiny
in the past
to be
a wife
a mother
a label
a nothing
but I want more than that
I want me
and more than me
I want to be
all woman
every woman
but not woman
not me
not trapped
by body, biology or brain
look at me
don't look at me
want to hide
need to be seen
reaching out
running away
moving target
in the night
why look at me
not what you see
my existence
doesn't depend
on you

    Funhouse Mirror

The mirror in my bathroom should show me what to see

    Looking in the mirror

Not pleased with what I see

    A face too round

    Hips too wide

    Hair where it shouldn't be

    by Rachelle de Bretagne

Should I be judged from what I weigh or how my face fits in?
Should I be judged on shortness or the height my body measures?

    Happy to be 'big'.

Ribs visible and a sixteen inch waist,
Her shapely body must have been misplaced.
    This five stone delight
