Do you love to Recycle? Or maybe your on a tight budget and need gift ideas? Or don't have a clue as to what to do for your child's fund-raiser for school or church?
Here is the solution for all three questions!
PUZZLE PIECE HAIR BOWS AND EARRINGS!
Here is my idea! Everyone with kids has a ton of those large puzzles pieces laying at the bottom of the toy box. Most of the time one or two are missing right? (Don't worry! If you don't have kids, you can find these puzzles at yard sales and thrift stores for about twenty-five cents up to about a dollar. Or you can ask your family and friends if they have any puzzles with missing pieces they would be willing to give you for free.)
The puzzle pieces you will need for the hair bows are the large ones found in 100 piece puzzles or less. The pieces you need for the earrings are the small ones from the 1,000 piece puzzles or more.
You can find the remainder of the items you need at WalMart or any of your local craft stores(if you don't already have them at home).
ITEMS NEEDED:
puzzle pieces
craft paint (any colors you want; suggestion:school colors)
metal barrette backs (you may have some broken barrettes of your own you can use)
hot glue or other sturdy craft glue
newspaper
paper plate
paint brushes
earring hooks(again you may have some from mismatched earrings you can use of your own)
Ribbon (optional)
scissors(only needed if you use ribbon)
sharp sewing needle
INSTRUCTIONS FOR HAIR BOWS:
Timed needed to complete project: 30 minutes if using hot glue
Cost:Under $1.00 if you have most of the stuff already or up to $2.00 per hair bow if you have to buy most of it.
In a well ventilated room, lay down your newspaper on a flat surface. You will need 3 inside (meaning not pieces with a flat edge) puzzle pieces. Lay them separately, picture side down on the newspaper. You will be painting on the rough brown side of the pieces. Next choose the colors you want for the hair bow. I suggest picking only 2 colors. Paint 2 of the pieces one color and the third piece the remaining color and allow to dry. You will need to put 2 coats of paint on the pieces for the most optimal look. Once they are dry, think of a design to put on them. You can opt for someones initials if this will be a gift, or your school initials if this is for a fund-raiser or just team spirit! Get creative with it!
Now that all paint is dry you will place the to like colored pieces side by side and then using hot glue or craft glue, adhere the third piece on top. When glue is dry,
