What are the best ways to keep fit and stay healthy?

I think the most important thing to remember is that portion control is the best way to keep your weight constant. First and foremost you have to keep fit and stay healthy so that you feel more energetic and this in turn will boost your metabolism.
I find it easier to go to the gym if I have a friend go with me. When I go alone I don't enjoy being there like I do when a friend goes with me. However, making it to the gym at least three times a week for thirty minutes a day will keep you fit and much more healthier than if you didn't go at all. People will say go to the gym everyday if you want to keep in shape, but all this sounds like to me is a job. Then like all jobs it gets old and you get burnt out.

Mixing up your routine is a wonderful way to keep the burn out from entering your corner. On warm days take your dog or kids to the park. Getting outside can be very relaxing and calming, in turn causing the stress you are carrying to dissipate just enough to stop the flow of the hormone cortisol. That nasty little thing every one is talking about that makes our pants not button without lying down on the bed comes from our everyday stressful lives.
I also find the sauna very relaxing. If I just sit there for ten to fifteen minutes at a time my body doesn't feel near as bloated as it does on days I skip out.
Weight training is one of the healthiest habits you can do for your heart. Most people think cardio is the only thing that actually gets the blood flowing and is good for the heart. I have learned that a little weight training can go a long way in helping to tone your muscles. Tone muscles help blood and oxygen flow throughout your body just as well. Doing weights before cardio can also ensure your not to worn out from that thirty minute treadmill escapade and simply hit the showers without doing any toning.
Diet also plays a vital part in staying healthy. Every day I read about a new diet or a quick way to loose 20 pounds. Don't fall into the crack of this scam. Dieting has to be a life change. Something you can tolerate for the long haul. Fad diets are just what they say they are. Fads come and go, and so will your diet if you can't live with it forever. Take it day by day and make good choices. It's okay if you have that piece of cake after supper as long as it doesn't happen every day or turn into two pieces of cake at once. It's okay to go to that all you can eat buffet if you make good choices. I have found a good way to cut a few calories
