Tomato-Face
"Hey, wait for me!"
It was Angry Angus, although why he was nicknamed Angry was beyond me as I don't think I had ever known him to get angry since we had first met.
"Are you getting the bus tonight?" He asked, breathless, as he caught up with me.
"As usual Angus, yes", I replied curtly. I didn't mean to be horrible to him, but sometimes, I just was. He was always there, and it got on my nerves.
"Cool," he replied. I rolled my eyes as I pondered on what was cool about getting the bus with Angus. Hmmm... not much.
We plodded to the bus stop, side by side, and I kept speeding up, then slowing down again in an effort to annoy him. It didn't work. Nothing I ever did seemed to annoy him.
"So are you coming on Friday?" He asked as I found a seat near the back. He sat in the one in front of me, turning around to face me.
I really wanted to go to his house-warming party, everyone was going, but I didn't want him to take the fact I was going as a green light to make a move on me.
"Oh, I don't know yet. I might be going out with Stu, he's back from University this weekend", I replied.
His freckly face had a flash of hurt as I continued to enthuse about Stuart King, about how we had kept in touch since finishing school, and about how much I missed him.
He fiddled with his red curly hair and turned around when I started to explain in great detail what had happened last time Stu came home. I explained how we'd ended up back at my flat, and how we ended up kissing passionately. Angus interrupted quickly as I went on to describe how I felt about Stu.
"Did you see that?" He was pointing out of the bus window to a burnt out, abandoned car, balanced threateningly over the side of the canal.
This was his attempt to steer the conversation away from Stu, and towards a different direction, and it worked. For the rest of the journey, Angus talked about his forthcoming party, who was coming, and how much he loved his new flat, which just happened to be next door but one to mine.
Stuart King hadn't really asked me out this weekend, we hadn't really been in regular contact, but the kissing at my flat had really happened, and more, a few times. Every time he came home for the weekend, or for holidays, we just seemed to end up together at the end of the night, and I certainly wasn't complaining.
The next couple of days were pretty uneventful.
Everyone at work was on a countdown to Angus's party on Friday, and spirits were high, despite the monotonous
