A FIELD OF POPPIES
Crimson crinoline ladies
lift their faces to smile at the sun
black eyes everyone
Satin scarlet dancers
toss their flimsy skirts array
green boleros everyone
Cerise velvet ballerinas
pirouette on delicate toes
ruby cheeks everyone
Red silken models
fashion a pretty masquerade
cherry lips everyone
Precocious pink poppies
perform a striking parade
garnet ribbons everyone
A field of beautiful poppies
catches my eye; a sash of blurry
red silhouettes flash by
