Teaching your children how to deal with prejudice

Teaching a child about prejudice and dealing with it needs to be explained in simple terms. First you must start out by explaining the different cultures and that different doesn't mean strange or weird. Tell them about religion and beliefs could be different from their own, that there is no right or wrong ones just different ones.

Show by example in your own attitude and manners, children learn mostly by what the see and hear. Practice what you preach and don't be afraid to correct their innocent wrongs. Also, don't be afraid to answer their questions honestly and truthfully in conversation that they could understand.

Practice with them at home through role playing games, pick up some literature from your local library. Take them to the culture museum for example to a Polish or Mexican museums and learn about their cultures together. If a child has a study partner and sees you learning too they will comprehend and retain the information.

Make their learning process fun and easy but make sure that you inform yourself and that your research is truthful before you teach it to your kids. Also help them understand that everyone is different even they are different than those in the family unit.
