Testimonies: Why I decided to cancel cable television

Why did *I* decide to cancel cable television? Hmmm, this could turn into a really long-winded article if I don't watch myself!

My first reason for cancelling cable television, had to do with money, of course! In my opinion, cable television is just absolutely over-rated! All those channels, and absolutely nothing good or decent to watch! And let's not even get started about the erratic service of digital cable television, not at the moment anyway!

I cancelled our cable television mainly because, we rarely actually sit down and watch television in the first place, and when we do, it's usually television shows that are on the basic channels anyway. We were spending over $100.00 a month, for something we weren't even using! After much deliberation, my husband and I made the difficult choice to, drop our cable service... we just couldn't justify spending that $100.00 a month towards something so seldom used, when we could apply that same $100.00 towards another bill or something we'd actually want to spend it on. Strike one, cable television!

I also find that my children don't miss cable television at all, they'd rather spend time with my husband or I, or read a book, than watch television in the first place. I think this is a far better investment of their time AND mine. Too often, people miss out on family time because of television, especially CABLE television... All the kids' channels, it's tempting, I suppose, to put the kids in front of the tv instead of spending time with them... All the more reason to cancel cable television! Regaining back family time! Strike two, cable television.

The erratic service on our cable television was absolutely insane! We would be in the middle of watching something that we truly wanted to watch (which is rare!), and we'd lose our cable signal... Which was absolutely infuriating! Why pay $100.00 a month for something that doesn't even work properly! Strike three, cable television!

And with that, cable television was OUT.
