Wolverine and Sabertooth are matched up very closely (it should also be noted that we are talking about the comic book characters not the animals).

They both have an age suppression factor that makes it impossible to say how old either of them is, although i have heard that Sabertooth is wolverine's father, that would explain why they have so much in common.

Overall Sabertooth is considerably larger and stronger than wolverine, plus he does not worry about hurting others, he is a wild vicious animal, and that can be his biggest problem. Like an animal he will worry about himself more than winning the fight. if he feels he is in true danger he will find the closest exit. Not that he's a coward, just that he appreciates his own life.

Wolverine, while smaller, was the victim of a military experiment. This experiment gave him a skeleton laced with the indestructible metal adamantium. It also gave him a nifty set of claws that come out of his hands.

He could use these claws to disembowel Sabertooth. If they actually existed he might already have done so, I'm guessing that comic's younger audience has kept that out of print though.

So basically Wolvie should be able to withstand anything that Sabertooth throws at him. And then throw some new moves back at Sabertooth. It would be a good fight, but in the end wolverine would win, you can't break him or hurt him, but he can definitely hurt you.
