How to have an action-packed week at Copper Mountain

be accommodated. Whatever your specific need is, you can acquire it in Summit County. Everything is so centrally located and free shuttle service is available. It's just that easy.

Rest assure that I have not forgotten the hunger factor.
A virtual plethora of dining ideas flow endlessly throughout Copper Mountain and the adjoining villages.
You must have pizza! Well, there is no better place than "Blue Moose Pizza". Fresh toppings smother the exquisite crust and warm you from the inside out. A full service bar compliments this cozy restaurant and atmosphere polishes off the meal. Hamburgers are available as well. But, if you are interested in a more elegant dining flare, you can't pass up "Alexander's On The Creek". Masterfully preparing sea bass unlike nothing that your tongue has ever tasted is the house specialty. Another favorite is their Elk tenderloin that can only be described as a taste of heaven, top the menu. If you happen to be in Breckenridge at the time hunger calls, don't miss a visit to Alpinista Bistro. An eclectic restaurant with a full service bar invites you to its American style plates with a twist. For the steak lover in you, try Beaver Creek Chop House. The beef stops here! Certified Angus steak served to order is the specialty of this establishment. You can also get live Maine lobster at market price.

When you aren't eating, sleeping or engaging in a winter sport, stroll down the populated streets and browse through the variety of shops. From antiques, to fashion and sporting equipment in between. The friendly shopping facilities will be a pleasant break in the activities of the day. Take a day and go to the mall in Silverthorne and spend the day getting great deals in the outlets.

So now that I've painted the picture, Picasso himself could easily plan an exciting and action-packed vacation.
Begin by deciding when to go. Open from November to April, this will fit into anyone's time frame. But the best, and least expensive months are between January and February. The snow is exceptional and the crowds aren't fierce. Try to avoid the holiday rushes if possible, the rates tend to go up and the lines are a lot longer. Weekdays are better as well, less crowds.

If you need to rent some skies or other winter equipment, I suggest that you do this prior to arrival. Prices are higher at the ski resorts and the selections aren't as good as they'd be in one of your local sporting goods store.

Now, for the lodging arrangements. If money is an issue, then I suggest a local hotel or motel that is not in the resort village itself, but just on the outskirts. These are generally less expensive. There are shuttles that will carry you to the ski lodge itself. But, if you want the ultimate experience, then rent a private town-home or condominium. You will have the freedom of entertaining and spacious lounging. Some of these private rentals are also equipped with a maid service.

Purchase your tickets for the lifts in advance as well. Walgrens and many service stations offer discounts and special packages. Sporting Goods stores also offer lift tickets.

Try to plan ahead for your eating ventures and if needed book reservations ahead. This will help facilitate a smooth vacation.

If you are completely unsure of what to do and where to go, consult a travel agent and they will be able to discuss your desires, plan and book all the arrangements for you and your party.

The key is to relax and let the beauty of wondrous Summit County consume and enchant this sure to please vacation.
