Ah the constant battle at the box office, the DVD player and between my wife and I. While I generally do not enjoy the "chick flick" genre. There are some movies that I enjoy and my wife calls "chick flicks". Before I prevaricate any further, I wish to pose a question why is that their is the genre of "chick flicks." With the exception of the ultimate guy film, the Dirty Dozen, you just do not hear of the genre of "guy films", unless of course that means just about every other film category other than "chick flicks."

Any how I am a big movie buff, just love the cinema and will watch just about any film to improve my knowledge base and experience. As such I provide you with my top ten of "Best chick flicks for guys." They are not ranked in any particular order they are just the top ten.

1. Titanic- A disaster film with a love story woven into for women. There have been several films about this tragic event and all before John Cameron's version focused on heroism, survival, the stiff British upper lip and the incompetency of Captain Smith.

2. What Women Want- Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt. This film has some funny scenes and the obligatory love story. Mel Gibson the world's greatest male chauvinist makes a metamorphosis when he is provided with the ability to hear what woman think.

3. Romancing the Stone- Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas. Like Titanic in way an action adventure with a romance story intertwined.

4. Last of the Mohicans- Daniel Day Lewis and Madeline Stowe. The adaptation based on the world re-known book. Again this is an action adventure with romance playing a huge part in the movie. The neat part of this period film is that the romance for the most part is the underlying theme for the action of the film. When the British are attacked after they surrender the fort to the French, Daniel Day Lewis character fights through the massacre to save his woman. Woman love that for the devotion aspect and guys love the action.

5. The Thomas Crowne Affair- There are two versions of this film the more recent with Pierce Bronson and Rene Russo. This film blends in the love story with some incredible crime trickery. The movie is just worth watching to try and figure out how Bronson's charecter pulls of all of his amazing feats especially at the end of the movie. The older version with Steve McQueen and Fay Daunaway is also excellent, but just not suspenseful or creative in intrigue. Besides some of the scenes from the more recent version are to say the least
