Essays: Death of a loved one

Death is an inevitability all humans face and the one constant that applies to us all. Most of us regard death with confusion and trepidation, because death is the ultimate unknown. It is also what drives us and makes life worthwhile; if we knew or time on this planet was infinite, the need to leave a legacy, which is responsible for some of our greatest achievements, would be eliminated. Beside our own mortality we also face the mortality of the once we care about. Death of a loved one effects every aspect of your life that hollow feeling never goes away and as much as you try to escape the reminders, you cannot because looking in the mirror is the greatest reminder of them all. And I am facing that for the firs time in my young life.

The death of grandparent is accepted and expected most of time but as much as you prepare for that day, you can help but be devastated. The idea of never seeing this person who has loved you your entire life ever again is beyond comprehension. Even though you knew it was coming your first reaction is disbelieve and you apply logic to make your self believe that it is not happening. Then when the reality of the situation sets in logic turns to unbearable grief, beyond any sadness you have ever felt. Nothing makes sense anymore and every little reminder makes you feel worse then you felt before. This empty feeling at the pit of your stomach that you cannot wish away nor fill consumes you every time you are reminded of the person. Even though you entire world seems to be crumbling, live continues and the menial formalities begin. The funeral makes it real so you try to avoid it, but you cannot you have to deal and mange unimportant things like the caterer and transportation for visiting relatives . The saddest day of your life dose not bring the world to halt you have to wake up the next morning; go to school and fake decorum and summon every ounce of will power to stop your self from crying uncontrollably on the platform of Young station.
