The sad truth of being injured on the job and dealing with Workers Compensation

Everyday in America, thousands of workers get injured on the job and allot
of them have to fight for their benefits. Companies take out a certain kind
of insurance on a worker that is supposed to protect him and his family,
while he is recuperating. If this insurance is here to protect the worker,
then why is it, so many times over, a worker must hire an attorney, to

represent him, in the handling of starting his benefits or reinstating them.
All the while, not having the income to take care of him and his families
everyday needs.

With the fact that there are workers out there, that abuse this type of
insurance. It makes it hard on the one's who have a legitimate injury,
to get the medical and financial means to make through this trying time.

Why do the one's that have documented prove of injury have to struggle to make
ends meet. All someone has to do is go on a forum, that deal with workers
compensation, and they will be shocked and appalled at all the stories that
injured workers are telling. Here is an example of what should be a case, where
there is no question that a worker needs his benefits. This injured worker would happen to be me.

I have worked everyday, since the day I was 18 yrs old and I have been a truck
driver, since the day I turned 21. I am 36 yrs old now, so that would mean I have

times, with this time being the third time. The other two injuries were nothing
major. I have been lay ed off a total of two times.Which consisted of winter months
and me being a local driver. It is fair to say I drew a total of 5 months of
unemployment insurance, in all 16 years.

In September of 2006, I fell while stepping out of my truck. As my foot hit the
ground it caused my ankle to twist, which in turn caused me to fall on my
buttocks, which caused a compression fracture of the L1 L2 disc. I also received
two bulging discs. One at the L1 and the other around the L5.I was 500 miles away
from home and in excruciating pain.It just so happened my wife, had been with me on
this trip. The company I had worked for, was told it was very important for
me to stay off my back, for the next 2 weeks, and that under no circumstances was I
to climb, pull,or push. With that being said, the company wanted me to sleep in my
truck, instead of getting me a motel room.I told them to take the money out of my
check and to give me an advance. Which they did. It consisted of two days worth of
lodging.I then had to beg and plead with them to
