Well, why the heck not. I believe it was Cher who said that she believes that everyone should be in therapy. If a prisoner is someone who will never be rehabbed, like a child molester, no they should not have counseling. The Silence of the Lambs shows this fact quite nicely. "I am having a friend for dinner." However, if their mind is messed up for some reason, or they have a chemical imbalance in the brain, it would be very beneficial to have them go to therapy. I believe that if the problem is a chemical imbalance, they need to get medication to correct that. If the problem is PTSD, they need therapy to deal with it.
I once heard a Preacher say that he thought that it was a sin for someone to have to go to therapy. He said that everyone could be healed if they just believe. OK...but what to do until a person gets to that level. I think that he has huge holes in his argument.
If it would benefit a person, society, a community...if a person could find the peace that they need to be a productive member on this earth, they I say let them have their therapy. I don't think it would hurt anything if they did. As far as babying the prisoners, I am definitely against that. However, if a person can change, let's give them a little help. Everyone...and I do mean everyone needs a little help now and then.
