Understanding Web 2.0

managed by monolithic proprietary software and less-than-friendly user interfaces?
There is no need of this: a very successful system for on-line photo management already exist on the Internet (we previously encountered it). It is used by millions of users and it is as easy to use as ABC. An AJAX-based web application for this purpose could be developed by a very small number of people in matter of days even using open development tool, but a surprisingly small number of companies think of doing something like this. A similar system will simplify the process of uploading, storing, commenting and managing any kind of photographic designs archive. This could be accessible simply using a web interface accessible from LAN, VPN and even the Internet avoiding any distribution problem.

Again, there are a lot more application for the Web 2.0. A news feed could easily carry any important information to all the workers avoiding he use of inefficient and expensive paper- or electronic-based bulletin boards. A feed is easier to create and manage and need fewer resources.
Web 2.0 offer us simple solutions to common problems that in the past were faced in a too complex way. It is a matter of a very simple solution that was always in front of us but just needed a different, more integrated, approach.
We would see the evolution of some suites based on Web 2.0 to be deployed on the company intranet to make possible everything we talked about since now. More than a complete product (or maybe along with it) we should think of an open, extensible framework that could be adjusted to any company's specific needs.
The benefit of a similar solution is the radical transformation of collaboration between persons form the same and from different companies along with the simplification of company processes. This is a revolution similar and, for may aspects, superior to the one started by the wide adoption of email as a communication medium in working environments.
