Singapore is described as the shoppers paradise due to its duty free shops.It is a flat island with an eclectic mix of colonial,Chinese,Malay,Indian and Arabic architecture.
Singapore has the world's second busiest port,the third largest oil refinery and the banking center of South -East Asia.
Its population is highly educated,disciplined,hard working and with a sound government.
When I visited the Island I found out that its level of environmental cleanliness is remarkable.
This is a country where the requirement of good manners is very strict.Roads,streets,squares and other public parks( right from Bond street via veneto,Fifth avenue,Orchard road,Bras Basa,Raunchy,Bugis and Bugis Square) are clean.
No foul smell will punch your nose,no mountains of rotting garbage,human waste or stinking fluids and reeking toilets.
This level of cleanliness is reinforced by the country's fine system.
You are fined for smoking and spitting in public (bus stops,train stations,restaurants,theaters and hospitals)as well as not flushing public toilets.
Chewing of gum is banned and attracts the heaviest fine or/and jail term of one year.
You are fined for eating ,drinking and urinating in public ,including lifts/elevators.
Throwing trash,cigarette butts ,picking of flowers and bird feeding are banned.
Crossing the streets (J-walking)at any point other than the Zebra crossing is liable to fines.
