Are we safer now than we were immediately after 9/11, or have we just been lucky?

We've been lucky, some say. I suppose one can say we've been lucky: we've been lucky that we've taken a number of steps and have not allowed the same blunders that allowed 9/11 to propagate and occur today. It's amusing, in all of its facets, to say that we aren't safer when there have been a number of plots with the potential to dwarf 9/11, each of which has been foiled, with plenty more that we simply don't know about.

There is a very simple question one needs to ask: have terrorists continued to attempt to kill Americans? Have they succeeded?

What has occurred since 9/11? Terrorists attempted to use liquid/gel explosives to destroy several aircraft. Terrorists have been seen doing dry runs on American airliners. The Flying Imams intentionally invoked airport security. Cells have continuously been broken up, only to reveal the sophistication in terms of weaponry and explosives that they had, including the one in Germany. Shoe bombers and dirty bombers have been captured.

But you know what hasn't happened since 9/11?

Another terrorist attack on American soil. To say that there haven't been attempts is a simple ignoring of the facts or a downright brainwashing by the same organizations and persons that insist the War on Terror is a "bumper sticker war" - I imagine those people should take that up with the Pearl Family.

What of the planned attack on JFK Airport that was broken up? The planned attack in New Jersey?

It seems astounding that with continuous attacks consistently thwarted, one can honestly state with a straight face that America is not "safer" since 9/11. The facts, quite frankly, are in stark contrast to this stance.

If the simple quantity of terror attacks thwarted don't successfully sway one's opinion - clearly the nail in the coffin should be Osama bin-Laden's own consternation about his failed war against the United States. Consistent reports from our leaders on the ground, from those actually involved, have all stated the exact same thing: terrorists are dying and losing ground, Americans are gaining ground. While these leaders, whose credibility has no reason to be called into question but are anyway, should seem like authority in and of themselves, it appears increasingly amusing when bin-Laden and his own associates' appraisal of the situation is consistent.

There comes a time when your partisan hatred for a president needs to come to a close and its time to face reality.

This time is now.
