One thing I learned during my six year college stay was to definitely dress comfortably. Being on the border with Mexico, many girls would go to school in stiletto heels dressed as if they were going to a club instead of class. I don't know how they did it, seeing as our campus was built into the side of mountain was not short of steep hills.

A must have for college fashion, particularly for girls, would be oversized purses. Not only can you carry lipstick, powder, and your wallet, but books and a laptop too. These were very popular around my campus and working with new freshmen, I see the trend is still in. Guys mainly settled for any fabric messenger bag.

Stilettos seems to be making their way out and are giving way to the flat style, ballerina type shoe. Many companies make these styles including Nine West, Steve Madden, and Keds. With an array of various colors and decorations on these shoes, there's one pair out there to compliment any look.

As far as hair would go, guys seem to be trending toward the longer, combed down, in-your-face kind of hair style; while girls are going after the long, sideways bangs.

No college look though would be complete without an MP3 player. Digital music player are the hottest college fashion accessory right now. Between classes or studying, students are always hooked up to their tunes. And now with MP3 players coming in various styles and colors, they've also become a form of self-expression.

Despite whatever fashion trend is in and no matter what year, I would always advise to dress comfy. Campuses are usually big with lots of area to cover, and try not to forget that you're there to get your degree, not a modeling contract.
