My son loves ocean animals and has enjoyed making these...
1. Whale - take a lunch bag size brown paper bag and poke a small hole in the center on one side, this will be your blow hole. Draw eyes and a mouth. Tape a few 4 inch long pieces of blue tissue paper strips together and set aside, this will be the water. Let child paint the whale with finger paints or dot painters. Tape the water inside the whole with paper sticking out of blow hole. Fill bag with crumpled newspaper. Tie end with yarn. Ties end becomes the tail.
2. Turtle - Cut out head, arms, legs, and tail shapes from green construction paper. Have child glue or tape shapes to a small paper plate so that they stick out. Glue or tape a second paper plate on the first plate to create the shell - sides of plate you would eat on should be facing each other, inside of 'shell.' Have child paint the shell with dot painters.
3. Fish (or any colorful animal) - Cut out two rectangles of contact paper slightly larger than the size of fish you want. Use a permanent marker to draw the outline of the fish. Remove the paper and place sticky side up. Have child sprinkle different colors of tissue paper squares on the contact paper. Remove the paper from the other piece of contact paper and place sticky side down over the tissue covered shape. Cut out the shape for the child and draw an eye with the marker.
