Months of planning and research. Weeks of packing and unpacking your suitcase just to make sure you have it all. And finally, the day arrives and you bustle of to the airport, or maybe jump into your freshly cleaned car to begin your journey. Either way the anticipation is invigorating and exciting. Somehow,now matter how wonderful your trip has been the return journey pales in comparison. No matter how much you may miss your children at home,or maybe even miss things like your job the thought that your much loved adventure is over and all there is to look forward to now is a long flight, dragging luggage through a crowded airport all to return to the same hum-drum life you couldn't wait to escape.

But really isn't anything that we look forward to a bit of let down when it's over? Remember the huge build up to Christmas when we were young children. Advent calendars marked the days until Santa dropped his loot in your living room. Now as adults,we have vacation count-down tickers on our computers marking the days off one by one. So really we are always "children on Christmas eve" at heart.

So as your washing a week's worth of dirty clothes, checking hundreds of new pictures on your computer, and checking your body for tan-lines remember that it is the bittersweet return that makes the trip worth going on in the first place. The best cure for the post-vacation blahs is to get busy planning next years trip
