The Internet blues can be broken up into two types: The first being in a situation where you find yourself spending too much time on-line. The second is more of a rage than the blues, when you find yourself not spending enough time on the web.
1) NEED A TIME-OUT
Sometimes you might find yourself in a situation where you are forced to spend excessive time at your PC and on-line. The feeling comes on quite like a blue whale arrives at its breeding ground. It slowly creeps up on you and before you realize it you are surrounded by this massive feeling of dark burden. This is normally when you have been working at some project or another and the feeling no reward for your effort is present. Frustration sets in and if one is not careful you may have to pull the hammer out the monitor at a later stage.
The most important thing is to stop doing whatever it is that you were busy with. It is counter-productive to carry on. There are a few remedies for this 'blue' feeling on a black day. Below is a list of suggested ideas to relax once you have stopped.
- Visit some news based sites that keeps you up to date with topics that you actually find interesting. Look at recent sports results, if that's your fancy, or just the day's headlines.
- scroll through the webs countless daily comics. These are all very different and there will be one to appeal to your sense of humor. If it turns out the actual problem is that you have no sense of humor then stop reading this article right now and go to the pub.
- If all else fail, be content in the fact that you can turn your monitor off and go and grab a cup of coffee or chat to someone at the water cooler.
2) AAAARRRGH! THEY CUT ME OFF!
The other kind of Internet blue is actually more of an Internet 'RAGE' than anything else. It usually involves a few anger fueled shouting matches with a call center chicken on the other side of the line after either being cut off or .
There is only one true cure for this well-known and common experience, and that is finally getting your connection restored, however there are other means to slow the wrath:
- Visit an Internet cafe. Often it just to email or visit your favorite blog, but its enough of a hit to get you through to the next one.
- Write a few nasty letters to the CEO of the company that either cut you off or lost your order.
So whatever forms of blues effect you or those around you, heed the warnings and take the break.
