Short stories: Childhood

The smell of warm cookies filled the small little house when I came home from playing with Jimmy outside. Hm, Mom was busy getting ready for dinner tonight. Mamma was at the kitchen sink and turned when she heard the door slam shut. "Do you want some tea with me before Donna gets home from school?" This was our special time together. The tea was already and Mom and I sat down for our daily cup of tea and cookies. "Have you been good today Lindy?" I smiled proudly and told her all about playing with Jimmy. Jimmy was the little boy down the street, and at the time my very best friend. We played Bat Man, and I was Cat Woman. In my opinon Cat Woman had a right to pick on Bat Man if he was anything like Jimmy and the other mean little boy Roy. I made sure that Cat Woman was noble in our daily battles, and would always win the fight of the day. Those little boys were just as determined that Cat Woman would be taught a lesson. Mom would laught at my stories, and make sure she would tell me to be a good little girl.

Donna came through the door hungry as a bear. Donna could eat anything and never get as round as I seemed to be. It was now time to hear about Donna's day at school. She was a good little girl and always was the teachers pet. Mom and I saw her paper work from the days lesson's and all of the 100% on each paper. Donna never beat up the boys, and liked to play house. I liked to play with my little cap gun and she liked to be taking care of her baby dolls. Donna was the perfect first born child that loved to tell on me and get me in trouble. My parents always believed her too. I figured that I really did not have to do anything wrong because Donna would make sure each night that I got a spanking for something when Dad got home. So all of my hard work at trying to be good was for nothing. I hated to see Donna get in trouble for something that she did wrong, and Daddy's rule was if we did not confess to the crime at hand we both would get a spanking. Why should both of us get a spanking and waste all of Daddy's hard work. I hated standing there when they were just going to believe Donna in the end. So I would confess to the crime I did not do and get the spanking and get on with life.
My Mom wanted a baby boy so very much when I was born. I was in shock when they took Mom to the hospital and Eddie came home. I lost my place as the baby in the family unit, and I was now competing with another boy. I did not like this
