How you can tell you've made it

The best person in this world to tell if you've made it is really yourself.
That is because only you, only you alone, know what is your ultimate aim or goal in life. You succeed when you manage to achieve that aim or goal you had set up to achieve in your life.

For some of you, making it is to be with a family that loves you, and to love that family in return. If family harmony is your aim in life, then you will be more concerned about seeing 'peace' in your family than about making more money in this world. For you, you will choose to sacrifice promotion opportunities in order to spend more time with your most treasured loved ones. In the end, you are not that successful in the eyes of your companies or even the rest of the people in this world, but you know you've made it because family harmony is your aim in life.

For some of you, making it consists of being religious. Your relationship with God is the most precious thing to you. You will sacrifice opportunities in the world to serve in your church. Your aim in life is not in achieving worldly success, but more as in living your life in accordance to the will of God. You've made it when you spend more time in bible study, prayer, worship and doing good works in the name of your God. For you, then, your success is on your ministry and walk with the God you believe in.

For some of you, making it consists of being the best that you can be as an individual. You pursue perfection in your arts, and seek your artistic talents to their full potential. You will be willing to put out with low pay, face rejection from family and peers for the sake of being able to compose that most beautiful piece or arts. For you, you've made it when you succeeded to create that most beautiful piece of arts.

For some of you, success is defined in the pursuing of certain causes and ideas. You fight poverty, seek to wipe our starvation, work to protect the environment, go out humanitarian missions to bridge the inequalities of the world. Your success comes when you move a step closer to achieving your noble ideas.

Different people have different ideas of what making it means. The world usually views making it as the accumulation of monetary, or financial success. You, however, are your best judge to whether you had made it in life or not. Ultimately, after-all, you are the only one who knows what you really aim for in life.
