The down side of online universities

As a student at Axia College of University of Phoenix, one of the discussions carried on through the first month of classes was the difference between online courses versus campus courses. There are a good number of differences between online courses and campus courses, here are a few:

1. Communication is different in an online course. When you are taking online courses you must be extra careful regarding the tone and mood you present in your communications. In a campus classroom, your instructor and classmates will see your face, hear your voice and catch your body language when they form a response to your behavior and words. These things are not present in an online format.

2. Online courses are often taught at an accelerated' rate. This means that a semester's worth of classes may be crammed into a few weeks. This fast-paced style of learning may cause undue stress on the casual student.
3. Online courses vary wildly in cost, and may actually be more expensive than campus courses. For instance, the cost per credit hour at a community college is generally less than one hundred dollars. The cost per credit hour of courses online can range from two hundred to seven hundred dollars!

These are the primary downfalls to online courses, however even with these in mind, do not pass up the possibility of online courses if the style of learning and the ease of schedule suit your life.
