will lead to injury or death. Metal and aluminium ones should be periodically inspected for dents or cracked welding.

The next thing need it is proper attire. When biking for pleasure, just about anything will do, but when considering the advantages, professional clothing is better. For around $700.00 or even less one can buy wet-dry bike attire and rain gear. This attire is made of breathable microfibers, which allows your body to stay dry by eliminating perspiration fast. Clothing should be tight fit to avoid been caught in a tree branch and brightly colored to be visible to all other participants in traffic thus avoiding the risk of collisions. The pants should have padding for the crotch. As such your derriere will thank you after a long ride on harsh terrain. The seat of the bike should be well padded for that reason. Gloves are highly recommended for a solid grasp with the handlebars. Riders should wear shoes instead of sandals or slippers. For designer pedals, designer shoes are the answer. Barefoot biking is an invitation to injury. A helmet that complies with the safety standards and allows airflow in case of high humidity is a good choice as well. If you're engaged in extreme biking, extreme safety equipment is a must.

For accessories is nice to have rear mirrors, a horn and flag to prevent collisions. A safety chain lock is good to prevent theft. Most bicycles now have bottle holders to carry water. A basket could be helpful for small loads while a wheel cart is good when toddlers gets to ride along.

Besides improper attire and lack of safety accessories, the mechanical condition of the bike can cause injuries or death. Avoid abusive handling and check for proper maintenance with a professional. A toolkit is good to have for minimum adjustments, generally made to the handlebars and the seat. Do not raise the stems of the seat or handlebar above the critical mark. The pressure applied to them during the ride can break them with serious consequences to the safety and even the life of the rider. If longer stems are needed to accommodate the height of the rider, have a professional choose the right one and install it for you. Not all bike parts are interchangeable. When you plan to upgrade the bike, take it to a shop and let the pros do it for you. As it is today, it's just as expensive to upgrade compared to buying a new bike. The rules of profit don't always work to our benefit.

Bicycles for adults come in standard ten to eighteen speeds unless you buy an oddity. Nowadays, twenty-one plus speeds are the norm. The choice is yours depending on personal preferences and needs. Whatever the choice, go with big diameter flywheels, cassette-wheels and pedal-wheels. The narrow ones will provide a good workout but they could kill the joy of ridding. The wider ones, requires less muscle power, provide a pleasurable ride better endurance and by changing speeds one can get a good workout out of it as well.

For the disabled, there's arm muscled powered tricycles. For those whom wants to ride with a significant other there's the dual seat bikes available. For a fancier taste there's no shortage of custom designer bikes such as the BMX, low rides, etc. The latest improvements, which are the standard in the newest models, are the shock absorbent forks and frames. Some bikes have one or the other, many bikes have them both.

A few words are needed before we close. Observe the rules of the road. Inquire about the applicable rules on the trail. Be courteous to other participants to receive the same benefit.

I wish you a safe and enjoyable ride.
