It was just like any other day, until I saw it. The strangest creature stood beside the tree in the meadow, my meadow. An expression of confusion and bewilderment were etched upon its features, almost as if it did not understand its own difference. I realized that it had not yet seen me, and I crept around very carefully as it watched something in the distance I could not see.
The most striking difference about this creature was that it stood on only two legs. How could it walk or even balance well on such a small foundation? That was the question I asked myself. Suddenly, piercing, tiny eyes swept my way. A small frown creased the corners of the creature's mouth, and it drew its eyes together in the most peculiar way. Apparently, I puzzled it as much as it puzzled me.
It stood straighter and began to teeter towards me slowly on unstable legs. Losing my own caution, I rushed to its side fearful of harm coming to the fragile creature. The scent of pure innocence rolled off of it, and I felt my initial sense of danger melt away. Just as I reached the child, I heard a loud, frightening sound behind me, and felt a sharp pain graze my rump. I grabbed the fragile creature, much to the chagrin of the creature who had hurt me, and galloped away, my silver blood streaking a path down my clean white fur.
