There is not a lot one can depend on in life. Seems like nothing is forever, and any given thing can be removed so very easliy. There is only one thing that can never be stolen from us; our memories. Memories that burrow deep into our subconscience, some of which we would love to share others we wish we didnt even remember. Nevertheless one of the greatest gifts we have is the ability make a memory. Where would we be if we were not able to store a single memory? Who there even be a society? And if there was, would we know if? A memory leaves an evverlasting mark on our brains, and sometimes an unforgettable jolt to the heart.
When we are away from home, or when we are depressed, sad, or just want to be alone memories seem to be a source of solitude, and place in our mines we can go back a relive, so incrediable moments. One of my most foundest memories are the times I spent with my Grandmother. My Grandmother may she rest in peace, was my total inspiration, my hero, my heart. I thank God every day for giving me the incrediable gift of memory and the ability to to remember and feel. One great thing about making a memory is sometimes linking a memory to a scent really heightens the scent of the moment you are reliving. I linked my Grandmother to the smell of home-made apple pie. I can not walk past a bakery without remembering the smile on my Grandmothers face when I would try to help her in the kitchen. How she used to blow flour at me until I laughed.
A memory no matter how simple or irrelevant it may seem at the time is a true blessing. Sometimes in your darkest hours, on the coldest and most miserable days the only thing you can use as a scapegoat is a great memory. Without memories we wouldn't have had any great times, any special moments, would we? Without the power of memory we would remember today, never know there was a yesterday, and wouldn't recall tommorrow.
