Reflections: Job seeking as a mature, overqualified adult

What should I be when I grow up? I totally have no clue. But just recently, I realized that it doesn't matter what you will be, as long as you have purpose for being so. There should be that aim you envision which your career will help you achieve. And it is best for this goal to be helpful to our fellowmen.

This is another brainstorm. What will I help give to the world? I guess it would be world peace and unity. And to this, I will be a beauty queen. It will be extremely difficult to give peace and unity to the world so it is better to start in my own native land. You may wonder, why a beauty queen? I know it sounds insane, especially when it came out from your geeky classmate. But well, a beauty queen is very influential. When you will be, for example, Miss Philippines, you will be toured all over the country letting you meet people and help in promoting projects of the government. In this, you can also mention peace and unity, why we need it, what our country will be with it, and how they can help attain it. Everyone will listen to a beauty queen because she is a role model for them.

Pretty good thinking, don't you think? But I do believe that having options in choosing a career is helpful. Other than a beauty queen, I could be an expeditionist. My purpose for such career would be to help in the preservation and conservation of our natural resources. There are many expeditions organized for such purpose. There are forest expeditions and coral expeditions. I will be able to compare then our own resources and the ways we act in taking care of them. I will start of by joining expeditions and later organize my own - all for the achievement of my goal.

Choosing a career is not easy, it will never be. To choose, you will decide what you would want to do or be for the rest of your life. It is advised that you give yourself an option. Identifying your purpose or reason for choosing that career is also important. And it is much better, like way better, if one purpose will be for the sake of our entire race. And lastly, the career you choose must be something you have passion for.
