Great board games for kids

and apply it to another similar but different situation.
Planning children are educated to develop longer ranging goals and take steps in the direction of bringing them about. They are taught of the need to reevaluate plans as new developments arise.
Juggling Multiple Considerations at the same time children are taught not to become overly absorbed in any one consideration, but to weigh numerous aspects all at once.


Not a single one of these skills is specific to chess. However, they are all part of the game. The advantages of using chess as an educational tool is that it stimulates children's minds and helps them to build these skills while enjoying themselves. Thus resulting in more critical thinkers, better problem solvers, and more independent decision makers (Meyers, Jerry).
Educational research has been done on the benefits of chess. Chess results in increased scores on standardized test in both math and reading. A study run in New York City, involved more than 100 schools and 3,000 children, confirmed higher classroom grades for English and Math for children involved in chess. Houston, Texas and Bradford, Pennsylvania displayed that chess leads to higher scores on the Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal and the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (Meyers, Jerry).
Chess has quite a few social benefits, as well. In schools, chess frequently serves as a bridge, gathering together children of different races, ages, and genders in an endeavor they can all enjoy. Chess assists in building personal friendships and also school spirit when kids compete together as a team against other schools. Chess also teaches good sportsmanship to win graciously and not give up when quarrelling defeat. There are various models where chess has led to increased motivation, improved behavior, better self-image and even improved attendance. Chess offers a positive social outlet, a healthy leisure outlet that can be easily learned and enjoyed at any age (Meyers, Jerry).
Chess is a stimulating game of wits. It persuades the participants to use their minds to develop strategies. The benefits of chess are innumerable. The game itself is an unbelievable catalyst for logical thinking. I've given you several facts and examples of why chess should be offered in the classroom in conjunction to traditional teaching. Chess should be incorporated into the studies of all school systems.
