The hype with the Playstation 3 is the ability of the machine. It is now October 2007 and the games that we are seeing on the Playstation 3 have been very promising. Gamers call this era of games "first generation". The meaning behind first generation games is that the games are good however; the developers have not yet grasp the console full potential. If we are talking about the graphics of the games, the PS3 is so far doing very well on its own, especially with games that really show off the visual capabilities of the PS3. Games such as such Heavenly Sword, LAIR, and Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. Those games are definite eye candies for everyone no matter what console you owned. A true unbiased gamer will admit the fact that those games are currently state of the art in terms of visuals for the PS3 especially with LAIR outputting at 1080p native. Something that Nintendo will never pull off, at least in this generation of gaming.

Playstation 3 is all about the technology inside the system. Critics and gamers have praised the system in the sense that this is probably the first time that a Playstation console is so well built and so sturdy compared to the launch of the PS2 and Playstation One. This time around, and finally, Sony has a winning combination where they are providing a high end console and that it is well built. Compared to Microsoft's XBOX 360 high failure rates and combined that with the console costing over 1 billion dollars in repairs just makes Sony's Playstation 3 console look more like a console that can be dependable. Is the XBOX 360 a bad console? No, of course not, it has the games to back up in their library and the developers who are willing to develop for them. But with a console that breaks down due to the fact that it is poorly built with multiple issues, makes me, a gamer, and other gamers who have unfortunately experience the harsh reality when they get flash with the "red ring of death", feel that this is simply unacceptable. We as consumers want the best. When a console that we have invested in, which cost over 300 dollars keeps breaking down and plus the horrible customer service by Microsoft, it really puts up the questions such as "does Microsoft even cares about the consumers?"

The Blu Ray Player is a major factor that Sony has given to their fan base. Every Playstation 3 owner has a high definition movie player. With that being said, Blu Ray is the thing of the future in terms of games
