Record collecting: Who is keeping vinyl alive and why?

DJ are keeping and the occasional neurotic are keeping vinyl alive.

Not to mention hip-hop producers who consider their records the key ingredient in the sonic stews. "Go on and loop Some More of that Digital Underground/Then maybe Baby you can Sell it, but don't Give it a new name just call it Dope-a-delic." -DU- Thats a quote that you should know as well as the Pledge on Allegiance.

The CD is dead,OK it has a few years tops. As all music goes digital I personally am liquidating my CD collection like a handful of Krispy Cream stocks. I-pods are just big hard drives that store your collection any way. I'll always keep classic albums because the experience isn't the same without the artwork

I can see the allure of the vinyl alive, records do have a warm sound. Cassettes sound terrible and CD's sound like they were dipped in anti-septic.

The true tragedy for me is seeing records in a tattered condition, It breaks my heart to see a scratched up Rolling Stones record all torn and frayed. I also hate seeing albums used as wall decor.

If you have records sitting in your attic that you don't use dig them out and set them free. DJ's will love you and you will be contributing to the world collage. Music is truly the universal language, peace be with you lowley music fan.
