Judging the ignorance of US citizens in world issues

"KATRINA THE DISASTER, A CLOSER SHOVE INTO WORLD PEACE"

Katrina. Most of the world populace's initial reaction to this word is a heart-tugging uneasiness about the catastrophic hurricane which wiped out the majority of New Orleans and Mississippi, in America. Many of us want to do something. Few of us do. Now that news coverage of the after-effects of Katrina has died down, most of America has forgotten the devastating horror stories of families whose entire lives have been uprooted. All of current civilization is looking at America, as high-powered, the richest country in the entire world, the top in practically every field spanning from bioinformatics to the entertainment industry. And yet, all of this #1 status isn't helping any of the victims of Katrina directly. Politicians and their committees are making endless plans and promises, but nothing is being done concretely. People in every other state continue living out their lives, stock brokers keep buying shares in NASDAQ,

The whole world is looking critically at America to see how this #1 nation will respond to such a crisis. Humanitarians everywhere are looking for an excuse to show the true ugly side of America and its lack of concern for its citizens beside their ability to make profit and add to the economy. America is freedom, but freedom comes with harsh rule. Freedom requires discipline, traffic regulations, taxes, political disputes, reality TV shows, and large endorsement deals of superstar athletes and celebrities. The problem with America is that there are many political parties, and no political action. There are many committees who decide things, and no actual decisions being made. Katrina is a fine example of this beaoracracy battle in that politicians and the US government's refusal to take responsibility for any one event. President Bush says its up to FEMA*, FEMA says its up to the local committees per state, the committees say its up to the government, the government doesn't give them enough authority to make things happen, and meanwhile there are 100,000 trailers lying around in a Mississippi trailer park of FEMA, all fully equipped and ready to be used by the millions of now homeless people left after the Katrina disaster. All that stops them from leaving the trailer park gates are trees. Trees, which are used to make paper, paper that must have a stamped seal of approval from whichever authority is top, and since nobody seems to know who is top and nobody wants to be a leader for this
