How much water should we drink every day?

Like the earth, humans and all other animal life are about three-quarters water. It is therefore no wonder that drinking plenty of water is so vital to our well being.

Many times a day we feel our energy levels falling and we reach for food when, in fact, we are actually in need of water. How often do we spend money and time on medical treatment for conditions which could have easily been prevented through proper hydration. Experts say that we are often dehydrated even before we feel thirsty.

Water is essential to keep us fit and healthy

Some of the natural perks water has to offer include: Hydration of internal organs, enabling them to function properly Hydration of skin, keeping it looking fresh and healthy Weight control Increased energy Alleviating and preventing a variety of ailments and keeping the immune system strong
Regulating body temperature Flushing out waste and toxins Maintaining overall health

Some common problems and ailments can easily be cured with the use of water :

Keeps Headaches at bay Since three quarters of our brain is water so this is one of the first places that will feel its absence. For a headache caused by alcohol, drinking lots of water, particularly before bed, will help get rid of it by flushing out toxins and re-hydrating the brain.

Reduces Infections Dehydration weakens the flow of lymph in the system and makes the body less resistant to infection. With adequate amounts of water, lymph flows properly again, fighting infection and lowering feverish temperatures.

Skin Skin needs water for elasticity, so too little water leaves it looking dry, looking lined and feeling delicate.

Concentration If we are dehydrated, toxins are retained in the liver, making us tired and unable to concentrate. Water helps in removing the poisons out and gets the system moving again.

Banishes Bags Sunken eyes and under eye circles are signs that we need water. Eyes sink because there isn't enough water to keep them suspended in the eye socket. Under-eye circles can also form due to thin skin as fluid drains away.

Cramps Blood transports oxygen to the muscles for activities such as exercise. If there is not enough oxygen in the blood, lactic acid accumulates in the muscles which causes painful cramps. Drinking water helps to keep blood constantly pumped to the site.

Reduces Cystitis A healthy hydrated body removes waste with light yellow colored and virtually odourless urine. If we are not drinking enough, the waste products linger in the bladder, leaving us prone
