when we think we're hungry, we're actually thirsty. Not for a milkshake, for water. Yes, water, just deal with it. Drink your water.
Vegetables were the key ingredient for me, whenever I was hungry or felt peckish, you know the feeling, and I had a cup of vegetable soup. WW has a recipe. This was ZERO points. If I wasn't in the mood for the soup I had sliced bell peppers. Oh my god! Want to get crazy, get some light ranch dressing for dipping (DIPPING, not drowning) heaven, pure heaven. This cured the craving for sweets, yes, it turns out, at least in my case, that many of the times I was craving sugar all I actually needed was some veggies. I've been hooked ever since.
I gave up red meat. This is optional, I don't know how much difference it actually made but it I never missed it and it's so much better for your cholesterol.
Best for last, exercise, I started out with weight training, this gave me the strength to do the aerobic which is why most fat people are turned off by exercise in my opinion. They just don't have the strength. Also, ladies especially, weight training is what got me into smaller size clothes. I lost a dress size every two weeks weight training three-four times per week.
There are three components to fitness, Strength, Cardio & Flexibility. You cannot neglect any one of the three so please don't think you can get into that size 12 by weight training and be done with it. Once you've got some power, try the spin class. I dropped pounds so fast. Oh, also a word about the scale, don't get too fixated. Go by the way your clothes fit. Muscle weighs more than fat and by you doing the weight training it's entirely possible to have looser clothes and put on weight. Don't get freaked. It balances out in the end, talk to your doc.
Finally, flexibility my favorite part of the "big 3 of fitness" I like Yoga, always have, but I did not have the strength to get through it at my heaviest so I'd emphasize your strength training.
