MLB lining up for the 2007 World Series: The Boston Red Sox vs. Colorado Rockies

This will be the last piece now that the World Series is clear on who is facing who. The question is who will win this bout? It's the Colorado Rockies against the Boston Red Sox. For the regular season, the Rockies held their own and was able to knock Boston down in the regular season but this is for all the marbles. Boston has been there before and quite honestly, would be considered a heavy favorite where as Colorado would be an underdog considering the fact they've never been to the World Series before. Momentum could play a factor and so far this post-season The Rockies have run over every team that's come their way like they were nothing. Credit has to go to the Rockies for really doing the unthinkable and actually proving they can win in a post-season series without having the experience as a team. This is their 2nd appearance all-time in the post-season and is going to be one for the ages if they can do the unthinkable and sweep the series.

Looking at this closely, it's really going to be one of the closest series to have been around since the 2003 World Series, the rest however have ended rather quickly so to speak since that time. When Boston made it to the big dance the following season, it was done in such a convincing manner that they not only swept the Cardinals but also won their 1st championship since 1918, at the time the 3rd longest drought in baseball history.

The advantage will go to the Red Sox due to the experience factor and not so much the home field because even then it may not play a factor. Also, the fact that this franchise won it in 2004 could potentially play a role though most of the team that won it actually went on to other teams. In my mind, it does play a role and they got the backing of the Media with the super hype machine trying to dub them America's Baseball Team or something to that effect. Beckett has been rather solid in the post-season either way and is probably going to really win the games he pitches but he can't pitch every game. The rest of the starters however still have question marks like Schilling or Dice-K even.

The Rockies have one thing on their side and that is momentum and a will to win. They find ways to beat opponents and don't have any signs of intimidation whatsoever. Pitching has been very strong for them, as they have won every post-season game they have played in this year. If they sweep the Red Sox, which is not likely, but if they did, they would be perhaps the 1st team in baseball history to go 11-0 in the post-season since the format began in 1995. They have had a break from playing and maybe it will make a difference but then again maybe not.

Well, though I picked against once, I still do so because this team has been on a major roll and doesn't look to be stopped anytime soon. My pick for the 2007 World Series Champions now will be the Colorado Rockies. Hopefully this time there won't be any shady calls in the World Series as there were in the last two games in the ALCS.
