I have gone camping using both methods; RVs and tents. However, I don't believe you get the true experience of the love of nature when you're securely placed inside something that quite often resembles a home.

Using a tent allows you to experience the true feeling of camping; although quite often the experiences are either annoying or bad enough to wish you were in an RV, but it's the change from the normal way of life that gives tent camping its unique experience.

You cannot experience nature when enclosed in metal housing. Although you may say that you do everything the tent campers do; but it isn't what the camping experience should be about.

Tents don't come equipped with television sets, DVD players, stereos or built-in appliances. Tent camping allows us to either utilize our creative abilities or imagination; it's work, but filled with self-accomplishment.

While annoying to some, I still enjoy the dew-soaked sleeping bags when I first awake in the morning. I'm able to hear nature's creatures at night, without interference by closed doors. We learn to appreciate the technology advances much more when we "rough" it as tenter's do vs. those who choose to spend their camping experience as they would exactly as if they were at home.

Tent camping takes you from the advanced world we live in - back in time to when the world was looked at from a different perspective. A world where people stopped to smell the roses and entertainment was roasting marshmallows, making do with what you don't have and finding ways to do things we never thought we could.

Tent camping tests our survival abilities and challenges us. It can teach our children that we do not need technological means to have fun. It can bring families closer together, literally, just by three little sleeping bags in a row.

We may experience loss when the clouds fill with rain and flood our site, our food may be eaten by the wild, and our backside sore by nature's floor - but isn't camping about the experience an experience different then how we live on a normal day to day basis?

I would take the dark skies filled with stars any day over a knob that flips on heat.

If you're going camping in an RV, you might as well just build a fire pit in the backyard of your home.

We camp to get away from it all - and a tent will do just that.
