Wiccan pride

July 8, 2006: In an attempt to create more enthusiasm and spiritual ownership within the regular Pagan/Wiccan circle I held for a few years, I wrote an inspirational "speech". This is the original version.

!*PLEASE NOTE: This is not an anti-Christian speech, although there is references to the Christian religion, in an attempt to create a understandable comparison.*!

"Merry meet my brothers and sisters.

Pride, joining together, hate, secrecy, persecution: And above all a religion that society has suppressed for too long. This is why we are gathered here. This is what I am speaking to you about today.

Where have our rights gone? Why are we no longer free to speak, free to express and free to practice our chosen spiritual paths? It's common knowledge that Christianity is the religion that governs our society. Christmas and Easter: These holidays are specifically Christian; however they are the only holidays that are publicly recognized. There is no day off school and work for Samhain or Beltane.

True Wiccans have respect for the Christian religion, and we do not follow their "Satan". True Wiccans don't even believe in the existence of the Christian "Satan" .
