Why do Christians baptize infants

Before I venture down this road, I would like to first point out that nowhere in the Bible does it give an example of an infant being baptized. To take it even further, nowhere in the Bible does it present an example of [sprinkling] as apposed to [submersion]. Are you ready for this? The very word "baptize", is derived from the Greek word, "Baptizo", meaning to [submerge, to dunk, to immerse.] This was a term used in the dyer's trade. It meant to dip completely into the dye. The cloth was immersed down into the solution until every molecule was saturated and came having taken on the color of the dye.

We first read of water baptism in the gospels, when John the baptist was preparing the way of the Lord. You can read the account of Jesus' own baptism by John the baptist, and it says that, Jesus [came up out of the water]. He was not sprinkled. I won't go into the Old Testament law that Jesus was fulfilling, but suffice it to say, he was fulfilling all righteousness. If you follow John the Baptist through the wilderness, you'll see that those he baptized were all of the age of accountability, and not infants.

Come with me now into the book of Acts where you will read the account of the Actions of the Apostles. The first water baptism to take place was on the Day of Pentecost. This was the beginning of the church that Jesus proclaimed that he would build upon the rock. After the Holy Ghost was poured out for the first time, devout Jews from every nation In Jerusalem for the "Feast of First fruits",were all amazed, and some doubted, because they heard the 120 speaking in their own tongue, and praising the wonderful works of God. Peter stood up and preached to them Jesus whom they had crucified. After which they were pricked in their hearts, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Peter's response was this: "Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

If you continue reading you will find references to, "much water, into the water, and up out of the water." There are no documented accounts in the word of God to validate infant baptism by way of "sprinkling." You will however find proofs of water baptism by "immersion", and in each account they were at an age of accountability, and were baptized as a response to the preaching of the word.

Baptizing by sprinkling and of infants was forced into the church body during the Dark Ages. Many false dogmas, and doctrines worked their way into to the church of God during the 400yrs. of silence. Although the adding of false doctrines did not end after the Dark Ages, and still continues to this very day.

Baptism by sprinkling or pouring began to replace immersion about the 2nd and 3rd centuries. [New Catholic Encyclopedia. 1977. Volume 2, page 65].

Infant baptism is believed to be a late 2nd century development. [Encyclopedia of Religion Hastings Volume 2, page 393-393].

The trinity doctrine first defined at the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D., changed the baptismal formula from the name of Jesus Christ to the titles of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. [World Book Encyclopedia, 1984, Volume T, page 363], and [Canney Encyclopedia, page 53].

So, my answer to this very important question is this: Because of dogmas and doctrines of men, forced upon the church that Jesus died for, at the hands of the Roman Catholics.
