Truth is not subjective, but objective. An objective opinion is based on facts, not feelings. Therefore when seeking truth in religious matters one need look no further than the Scriptures. As written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life; no man comes to the Father, but by me." To seek truth is to seek Jesus. There is no other truth out there. Not my opinion you see, but a fact.
Jesus does not say I am one of the ways or one of the truths'; he says quite clearly and distinctly "I AM the Truth". And just what is Jesus' truth? Only by accepting his obedient sacrifice to God through the cross and resurrection can we obtain an everlasting relationship with God and God's Son, Jesus Christ. And how do we do that?
Not by charitable donations, nor good deeds, nor tax write-offs. It is not available to us through our family tree or circle of friends. The truth of eternal salvation is offered to everyone that believes on the name of the Son of God as given in 1 John 3:23 - - "And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the Name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment."
Truth stands firmly in its opponent's way: falsehood. Whether you call it lying, fibbing, white lies, tall tales, and whoppers, it is still an untruth. Truth is the antonym of deceit and deception. To be told partial truths is to be lied to; whether deliberately or well meant.
Truth is a way of life. A life lived honestly and fairly is life based on truth. When we can be truthful to ourselves and treat others equally without compromising our values and principles, we manage to accomplish a life of integrity, also. Who wants to associate with someone who is not truthful and has proved to be unfaithful in their relationship with us? Not too many people do. This is where unconditional love comes in. You may think we are changing the subject, but that would not be the case.
Without unconditional love (loving with no strings attached), we are not able to live in truth faithfully. Without unconditional love Jesus could not love us. Nothing we do will ever be good enough for God to let us into his presence. Isaiah 64:6 says our righteousness (our versions of good enough') is as filthy rags to God. Have you ever seen a really filthy rag? How about a mechanic's rag? It is greasy, smelly, worn out and germ-infested from the numerous times it has been used and reused. Even when it has been washed, some of the dirt is still in the weave. That's what our souls look like to God when we don't have the truth of Jesus covering us up.
Truth is eternal life and life changing. Are you ready for the Truth?
