Cooking is a great passion of mine; an extension of my creativity. (I'm also an artist and published author) I love to experiment with ingredients and come up with new recipes to try out on my husband. Luckily, he's always a willing taste-tester and my biggest fan. :)
The following recipe results were so delicious the first time I cooked it that I wrote it down WHILE we were eating, so I wouldn't forget the measurements I had used.
Sharon's Orange Chicken
(Recipe by Sharon K. Shubert)
1 c. water
1/2 c. ketchup
1 c. real orange juice
1/4 c. soy sauce
2 T. light brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp. ginger
dash garlic powder (or to taste)
orange zest from 1 orange
Mix all ingredients well. Pour over browned chicken pieces and bake at 350 degrees F. for appr. 30-45 minutes, depending on bone-in, or boneless.
IN A HURRY? Purchase deli cooked chicken or chicken strips; place in a baking pan....pour sauce over all and cook at 350 degrees F. for about 15 minutes.
You can also use this sauce as a DIP for chicken nuggets!
