I'm sure everyone knows that vitamins & mineral supplements helps our body to become a better living organism. Our body needs them to work properly, so that we can grow healthily and develop like how we should.
Vitamins are fat-soluble or water-soluble organic chemicals necessary in small amounts for good health. Humans require 13 different types of vitamins for normal function and must obtain them from plant and animal foods in their diet. Vitamins A, C and E are antioxidants. In the body, they protect cells from being damaged by "oxygen free radicals," which have been linked to aging, heart disease, cancer and stroke. Healthy people usually get adequate nutrients by eating a variety of foods in moderation, rather than by taking supplements. Real food is much cheaper and better absorbed than supplements. Unabsorbed nutrients from a supplement are excreted in urine. Vitamin or mineral supplements aren't a substitute for a balanced, nutritious diet that limits excess calories, saturated fat, trans fat, sodium and dietary cholesterol.
It is best to get vitamins and minerals from eating a variety of healthy unprocessed foods. People who may need vitamin supplements include pregnant and lactating women, some vegetarians, people who drink large quantities of alcohol, drug users and the elderly.
