The best contraceptive

There is a wide variety of contraception avaliable and there is no solution that will fit every one. Some certainly work better than others, none of them are perfect.

Condoms-
PROS- cheap, easy to use, no prescription required.
CONS- Decreased sensitivity, messy
EFFECTIVE- 85-98 %

Birth Control Pills-
PROS- highly effective, no change in sensitivty, nothing to remember in the heat of the moment


CONS- need a prescription, must take pill daily
EFFECTIVE- ~99%

Diaphragm or Cervical Cap with spermicide
PROS- highly effective, no change in sensitivity
CONS- may be messy, requires placement, requires prescription
EFFECTIVE- 85-95%

Contraceptive Shot- 'Depo'
PROS- highly effective, only once a month to once every 3 months
CONS- requires Doctor visit, make affect future fertility
EFFICTIVE- ~100%

IntraUterine Device (IUD)
PROS- nothing to remember, no change in sensitivity
CONS- requires Doctor visit,
EFFECTIVE- ~100%

Vasectomy
PROS- nothing to remember, one time only
CONS- requires office surgery, permanent (mostly)
EFFECTIVE- ~100%

Tubal-
PROS- nothing to remember, one time only
CONS- requires surgery, permanent (mostly)
EFFECTIVE- ~100%

Realize that only condoms protect against STD's and they are not perfect. There are worse things to get than pregnant - HIV, Hepatitis C, Genital Warts, etc...
