my mother commented. While our Mom went to the kitchen to start breakfast, our Dad watched as we started ripping into presents. The living room looked like a paper storm had blown through. We got most of the things we asked for and a few things that we weren't expecting. Our Mom thought it would be a good idea to buy us clothes and socks. These were gifts that my brother and I weren't expecting and gifts that we definitely did not classify as toys. My brother and I actually shared our toys as we played with them; leaving the clothes and socks in a pile all by themselves.
Dad made us clean up the mess we made with the paper, and then we had breakfast. After breakfast we got dressed so we could go outside and play with our toys in the dirt. We had gotten these big Tonka trucks that were made for little rough house boys and mud holes. While we were playing, our Dad had gone out to the shed. We didn't think anything was odd about this because he was always in that shed doing something. After about an hour he called us to the shed. My brother and I left our toys thinking that he was about to make us rake leaves.
When we got there, Mom was trying to keep a straight face and failing. Dad opened the door to the shed, and at that point you could have knocked us over with a feather. There were two bicycles identical to the ones we had asked for. It was odd, because we didn't move or say anything until Dad said, "well are you gonna ride'em or stand there staring at'em?" We rode those bicycles until our parents made us come in the house, which was well past dark. That was the best Christmas I ever had.
