She was a little blue-eyed girl with coffee-brown locks that bounced freely as she scurried about to and fro. At the age of five, she was just as much a bundle of joy as she was of energy, so that her mom would often call her "motor-mouth". But this didn't stop the little girl from chattering on, even though no one much cared to give ear to her ramblings Oddly enough, she is a little chatterbox even to this day and tends to go on and on and on.
"What's that?" she asked, in a still, small voice. "It's just me, your brother," he assured her, as his hands made their journey along her petite form. What came next changed the life of this little girl. When she was just five years old, in a few brief moments, her innocence was stolen from her. The hands she held during play-time while romping and giggling about the yard were the same hands that would on this night, violate her very soul. She doesn't remember details: she built walls of preservation, locking her in and blocking them out.
As time passed, her wounds seemed to heal and she grew into a blue-eyed, brown-haired teenager. But something in her had changed. The cheerful, spry little girl with the bright eyes and gleaming smile wasno more. This could be seen from her disdainful outlook on life in general.
"Who's that?" she murmured, while she tossed and turned beneath the coverlet in her bed. "It's just me, Gary," he said in a whisper, as his hands trailed over her buttocks. Gary was one of her step-father's friends and had just been released from prison. He was in dire straits and in need of a place to lay his head for the night, so her family took on the role of "the good Samaritan." He was gone the next day, when her mom threw his portable TV, along with his other possessions, over their third story balcony. Thankfully, the girl was not harmed by the thief in the night on this occasion.
She was all grown up now, having traveled down a myriad of different paths. She had clearly lost all hope of her innocence ever being regained.
Until the day she met him.
He was kind, and gentle. He was warm and sincere in the purest form. He whispered to her, "Come unto me, all ye that are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light." For a moment, this grown woman became a little girl again, but this time she was cradled in the arms of her protector. It was just as she imagined it should have been all those years ago. She was sure to be safe now, in the tender loving care of her newfound friend Jesus.
This little blue-eyed, brown-haired girl was me
