The Bible relays to the Christian, that though we are in the world, we are not of this world. A Christian is not a Christian in the flesh, but a Christian is a Christian in the Spirit. Jesus himself conveyed to Nicodemus, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. A Christian however, is not born of the will of man, but rather, the will of God. A Christian's flesh is just as weak as the next guys, though our spirit is willing, our flesh be weak.
This is where the importance of God's word, "The Bible" comes in. As we very well know, that in order to stay alive and well in our flesh, we must consume proper nutrition on a daily basis. Well, this is no different when it comes down to feeding the Spirit of God that dwells within a Christian. The Bible is the bread of life which gives substance to the inner man. You can also liken it unto running water; daily cleansing the flesh of impurities that are digested, even in ignorance on a day to day basis. From a Christian's perspective, the Bible should be much desired, as honey is to a bee. For the words are sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.
Our ways; are not his ways, and our thoughts are not his thoughts. He is high above the earth, and his train fills the temple. You can also liken the Bible unto a mirror which casts a reflection of who and what we are in the flesh, in light of what is written across the pages. Just as we look into a mirror with hopes of correcting that hair out of place; we look into the Bible, and while we read, God's word shines the light, and unction's the Christian to tidy up those things that are out of place. A Christian is filled with the Spirit of God, and the Bible is the sword of the Spirit. Each day will bring along with it all its temptations and trials, but the word of God gives us encouragement, as well as assistance, as it plucks up those things that seek to destroy our walk with God.
The Christian is not made by his own doing, but rather, we are born again by the word of God; this God slowly forms within us, the character and nature of Christ. Notice how I said, "slowly'. This is all a process, and is much like planting a seed beneath the confines of the soil. The beginning is not a bed of roses, as there is much toiling to be done, and the seed must fall to the ground and die, before springing forth through the cold deep earth bearing the beauty and scent of a rose. Remember, a rose is a rose, yet it still has thorns. But a rose called by any other name is still a rose.
The Bible is a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. A Christian is a stranger to this world on a journey to a far off land. How then does a Christian make it safely from one destination to another? It's all written on the pages of the Bible. I heard it said; that the Bible engulfs it all and inscribed within are the; [Best Instructions before Leaving Earth].
Let us not try to make this journey through life in our own strength, as our strength shall fail. Let God guide us safely home, through his unfailing word.
