There is new evidence supporting the theory that drug addicts are predispositioned to be drug addicts because of a chemical imbalance. Drugs cause the mind to produce endorphins and eventually the brain completely stops making the endorphins, causing addiction.
Addiction in young people is higher than ever. Look at who they have to model themselves after, a bunch of addicts. Everyone is addicted to something, could be tv, could be heroin. It is how you address these problems that makes the difference. If you are screaming, yelling and uneducated about the subject at hand, do your research. Because teens these days are smart, they go through dare in 5th grade. That opens their world to a whole new assortment of things that could be really fun and alter your life experiences. What does every teenager want to do? GROW UP!
Although, they do not realize that doing drugs does not make them grown up, they do realize that they are making their own life altering decisions and having fun doing it. Lets be honest, drugs are a hoot! When it comes to your children, there is more at stake. I started using drugs when i was 13, it started with some lortabs, and progressed to weed.. Now i am a seasoned heroin addict.
Now here is the hardest part, addressing the problem. You have to take into account, what kind of personality does your child have? Does she hate the world? Involved in sports? Have a boyfriend? Well let me tell you about me, i was the typical self loathing, goth girl, who liked older guys and rebellion. I hated my parents, still do. The first pill i ever ate, i put it in my mouth with spite and loathing. It took away some of the pain. So i ate more.
Remember that no everyones path starts this way, a lot of people are just out looking for some fun and get caught up with the wrong people.Do NOT make an ass out of yourself, nothing makes an addict madder than someone coming at them with false information.
Parents don't be naive, don't let your little girl date boys that are more than 2-3 years older. Keep track of their friends and what they are doing. Some of the innocent looking people are the worst influences. Here are 10 hints to tell if they're turned on and what they're turned on to.
1. Change in sleep pattern/eating(now dont be alarmed, i used to stay up for days with no drugs as a teen, so don't just assume, anything)
2. You start catching them in stupid pointless lies( they are trying to throw you off the scent of something)
