Mosquitoes can smell from pretty large distance, especially if a person sweats. So when you sweat they smell you and come for a bite, if you have high blood sugar than you are probably the kind of person that gets bitten allot. There are all kinds of ways to avoid this:
first you can buy a cream of soap or whatever so than you skin will smell less attractive to them.
There are all kinds of lights and stuff you can put outside to attract them there instead of to you
there are small things you put in the electricity that lets out a smell that repulses them, you can't smell anything so this is quite good
And my favourite, there is something you plug in, the size of a small night light, that lets out a high frequency sound that you can't hear, but mosquitos can. something that scares them off, it works.
Personally I attract these critters like hell but i sleep with four cats :) so the cats usually kill them before they reach the bed. Cats are a wonderful solution to bugs and such.
