We have seen how governments spend our money, badly.If the government was to fund research any kind of research the first to get their share would be the CEO's of the world and then from there we would go down the list.Some may think this a cruel observation but governments don't really care if we live or die, the population is increasing everyday and what better way then to let those who are sick just die.We must stand up and start to look after ourselves and stop relying on the government.Educating ourselves is the best way to prevent this terrible disease from striking us.I live in Toronto and this province has had its battles with the government over funding issues, some funding has been reduced or has been completely been removed.One of the major cancer hospitals in the city has decided to take matters into their own hands by having a lottery which offers cash, cars and homes.The cost of a ticket is high but there are a lot sold. All the money goes to cancer research and with no government interference.It has been very successful and they have had a number of draws.Cancer researchers have demanded that they receive government funding but to no avail because the government feels that that money would be better spent and I must agree them, for by now we should have the cure available.There are other ways to get research for cancer by sending as much money as each person can, by having walk-athons for cancer research even selling lemonade and giving the money towards cancer research.We are smart and if we want to find a cure for cancer we must step up to the plate and fund research without any government backing.
