Essential first aid kit supplies for your home

Every house, workplace and building should have at least one first aid kit for every twenty five people in the dwelling. First aid kits ensure that medical treatment can be given while waiting for the proper medical authorities to asses the situation.

There are many products which can be included in any first aid kit, however to ensure that I do not go through all of them as this would take to much time, I shall instead concentrate on the basic supplies that should be included in all first aid kits.

The first and most important supply that should be included in all first aid kids, is a first aid manual. A first aid manual will list what should be done in an emergency as well as which supplies should be used in different situations.

This is a very helpful supply to include as not everyone has had proper medial or emergency training. The first aid manual will help to guide the user in what should be done first and can help save lives if used properly in difficult situations.

The following are other important supplies that should also be included, adhesive tape is used to secure bandages or wraps that may be used to bind a wound. Aluminum finger splints are also very helpful as well.

Aluminum finger splints can be used in the event that a finger is sprained or broken, the splint will ensure that the injury is kept still until proper medical attention and treatment can be found.

It is also a good idea to include an antibiotic ointment in your first aid kit. This will allow you to properly cleanse the wound before binding it with gauze and a bandage. An antiseptic solution or towelettes are also good for disinfecting the wounded area.

Bandages are also necessary supplies that should be included in your first aid kit as they allow you to cover minor cuts and scrapes. Elastic wraps are also useful especially if you carry them in an assortment of sizes, they can be used in a variety or emergency situations.

Instant cold packs are also good to have in case of a burn or sprain and other injuries. Cotton balls and swabs are also important as they provide a safe means for applying ointments and lubricants without touching the wound with you skin, as this can cause infection in some wounds.

Disposable gloves are a great idea, gauze pads and a roll of gauze should also be kept in an assortment of sizes. Eye goggles are helpful when eye protection is necessary.

Petroleum jelly or other lubricants should also be included and your first aid manual
