Does the Internet encourage cheating

How can it not encourage people to cheat being on the Internet. The only thing you cant really cheat (although this is probably getting easier) is to pay.

Having researched in to a number of people who have used the Internet for things such as chat rooms or Internet dating sites, it has become apparent that really you can be whoever you want to be to a number of different people and the chances of you ever getting caught are very slim.

I joined an Internet dating agency over 4 years ago and at that time came across people who although advertised on the site as being single, when you finally came to meet them, had an admission to make and that they were really married. Now we can assume two things, it was an easy way out of wanting to see me again, or they just wanted to make it easier to get to meet people, as most people don't want to start up relationships with people who are already attached. If they do, its usually for a bit of fun but on the whole most people just want to meet someone and share life experiences.

Having not been on a dating site since this time, and believe it or not, but I met my guy on the Internet, after a few bad experiences, I finally found someone whom was not only what he said he was, but was quite cute and extremely kind. Even on this site you can be someone else, but I don't call it cheating as I am not trying to coax people into getting to know me, I am just writing about my life experiences and express my opinions on subjects which are close to my heart or very much the topic of the day.

I think the Internet has come a long way in dealing with cheats and bogus people trying to get something out of people, but I don't think it will totally eradicate it completely. In all forms of life, you will always have cheats.
