I think it is a good idea to improve academic achievment for preschoolers in the long term. It can help prepare them for kindergarten. Also watch out if your child around this age is delayed on any type of development problem such as speech, language, behavior, or not talking at all. But otherwise I feel they should work on the preschooler more. Here are some tips that can help for the ages of 3 and 4 year olds.
1. By the end of 3 yrs many children should be able to:
Show affection for playmates
use 4 to 5 word sentences
imitate adults and playmates
play make believe with dolls, animals and people

2. By the end of 4 years olds, many children should be able to:
use 5 to 6 word sentences
follow 3 step commands
cooperate with other children.

Even though every child develops at his or her own pace, your child may reach these milestones slightly before or after other children the same age.
Here are some questions that you can answer if you have any children or work with children.
1. What can you do to keep track of your child's development?
2. What should you do if you are worried about your child's progress?
3. Where can you go to get more information
4. Can you refer to a specialist for more information?
